General Rules and Regulations

The Massey Fair is held at the Massey Fair Grounds, at 99 Imperial Avenue, Massey, Ontario on the last full week-end before the Labor Day week-end.

Anyone who completes the Entry form, subject to eligibility requirements, may exhibit.

All entrants must have a current membership, which may be purchased at the time of entry.

Entry Forms, Tags, and Prize Lists are available at the Massey Fair Office, Massey Public Library, Massey Museum, and the Township Office.

All entries must be signed by the exhibitor, and must be attached in a place that can be readily seen.

An item entered into a class or section it does not belong, will be automatically disqualified.

Prizes will be paid by cheque, and will be mailed within three (3) weeks of the last day of the Fair.

All Protests must be made to the Secretary, in writing, before the exhibit leaves the grounds.  The written protest must be accompanied by a sum of $5.00, which will become the property of the Society if the protest is not substantiated.

It is the responsibility of the Director, and not the Judge, to determine that exhibits meet the requirements specified.  The Judges duty is to place exhibits and report irregularities to the Director in Charge.  Any person who shall attempt to interfere with the Judges while in the discharge of their duties, or who shall afterwards, on the premises of the society, use any contemptuous or abusive language to any Judge in consequence of any award made by him, shall forfeit his right to any prizes of which he might otherwise be entitled, and may be banned from the Massey Fairgrounds for 1 year thereafter.  Judges and Directors are requested to report any breach of this rule.

Non compliance with the rules and regulations of the Society on the part of the exhibitor shall incur the forfeit of any prizes awarded.

The prize list is subject to correction of typographical errors and/or omissions.  In the case of a disagreement, the ruling of the Show Director shall be final.

The Directors reserve the right, (because of rain or any other unforeseen circumstance) the receipts for the year are not sufficient to pay the prize list in full, and to pay such portion as they have on hand after paying expenses.

Should there be no more than one exhibitor in a class or section, the Judges may use their discretion as to awarding the prize.

The Judges shall, in the discharge of their duties, be careful to act with the most rigid impartiality and shall make their entries in a clear and legible manner and use due care that the numbers entered by them correspond with the numbers on the entry ticket in favor of which awards are made.

The Society will take every precaution under the circumstances to ensure the safety of animals sent to the exhibition, yet they wish it to be distinctly understood that the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting the animal, and should any animal be lost or stolen, the Directors will give all the assistance in their power toward recovering same, but will not make any payment for the value thereof.
